Technology Tiers

The progression in Subnautica game can be split into four technology tiers below. Remember that you do not begin with all of them in an instant! A few items should be explored during the journey you carry out in the game before they are shown up in the own menus as objects that you can construct.

Free diving

Your character can free dive into the ocean. Your oxygen will be supplied more by Oxygen Tanks. Additionally, you can swim faster with Fins. You can restore your oxygen without cost whenever you are in the environment that you can inhale and exhale, for example, when you rise out of the water or a breathable air vehicle.

You can propel the body through the water of Subnautica steam game about 5.7 meters per second underwater at the base. Fins will help your swimming speed increase by 15% initially (+1 m/s), and 30% after that on (+2/ms) if you have an upgrade.

Seaglide

Seaglide

It is considered as the earliest notably improved form of transportation. Seaglide is an underwater propulsion system that you will control it by using your hands. It becomes useful for you to travel easier. From that improvement, you can approach deeper areas in Subnautica game. Seaglide is battery powered and you are recommended to recharge it. Note that it will restrict the time you can move without coming back to your home or replacing its battery.

Because you frequently free dive even when you are equipped with vehicles, it is still a convenient tool. Indeed, Seaglide will provide to the player a flashlight and a small 3d map. The max speed of Seaglide is 9.5 meters per second.

Seamoth

Seamoth

Seamoth is a true underwater vehicle in Subnautica PC game. It is a one-person submarine, too. It has a better movement speed than Seaglide. The actual ability that you receive from the Seamoth includes ranging and discovering. Its maximum speed is below 13 meters per second. So, you re able to come with it to distant locations, collect rare resources, and return with not spending too much time on transit.

Seamoth offers an oxygen atmosphere interior. Hence, you can park it at a depth and free dive away from and go back after you bring what you want. It is regarded as an interesting gathering tactic which is quicker than returning to the surface. Besides, with the Seamoth, you can dive to 200 meters underwater (crush depth) at the start and it can be advanced so you will plunge deeper.

Cyclops Submarine & Prawn Suit

The Cyclops

It is very big and it has a large and multi-level interior space. Enter the Cyclops and you can build base facilities and keep items in reserves. Meanwhile, the Seamoth has the size similar to a single seat in Cyclops. In fact, Cyclops Submarine is sizable and you can load another whole vehicle inside it, for example, the Seamoth or a Prawn suit.

The Cyclops

We can say that it is the first technology tier that you can use to roam Subnautica game with more items than carrying them with a cramped personal inventory. For many people, it looks like a traveling base, with the storage and other base facilities. Especially, it can drop to 500 meters at the beginning.

Despite the Cyclops can shortly run to over 10 meters in every second (slower than Seamoth), the fastest indefinite cruising speed is under 9 meters per second or approximately 70% as fast as the Seamoth. Even though your Cyclops has the weaker pace, you can know that it has a massive interior reserved for facilities and a comfortable storage. In other words, you can choose it to come with you in extended trips that will not be advantageous in the Seamoth alone. With the docking station, you can take a Seamoth. Its inner storage room can stock multiple player-inventory-sized resource hauls and pack them inside before you come home.

The Prawn Suit

The Prawn Suit

It is an exosuit vehicle. It is electrically powered. It has a particular atmosphere. Dissimilar to the Seamoth, it will support you so you can walk along the ocean floor. The Prawn Suit is furnished to prevent the damage from hostile hunters and immune to the heat or dive to 900m.

Play Subnautica game and bear in mind that each of vehicles that we have already introduced above can be upgraded or enhanced to further boost its abilities. If you get a vehicle, it does not mean that you have gotten close to the end of its progression.

For instance, whilst the Seamoth can descend to 200m after you activate it, one of its principal upgrades will give you the possibility to proceed to a farther 300m, which will unlock the door leading to other mysterious areas that you can experience by yourself. All of these technology tiers will be operated together to make you more excited.
